Russia has stunned the world by developing a cancer vaccine. The country announced that the vaccine is now fully ready and will be distributed to the public free of charge early next year, according to a report by Russian news agency TASS.
Andrei Kaprin, Director General of the Radiology Medical Research Center under Russia’s Ministry of Health, revealed the information during a recent interview with Radio Russia. He stated that if the vaccine is successfully introduced to the market, it could be one of the greatest innovations of the century.
Kaprin expressed optimism, saying, “We hope to make this vaccine available to the public by early 2025.” He also mentioned that the vaccine utilizes cutting-edge messenger RNA (mRNA) technology in its production.
This advanced technology uses a specially fortified liquid protein as a key ingredient. Once introduced into the human body, this protein trains the immune system to destroy cells responsible for causing cancer.
The vaccine was developed in collaboration with several leading cancer research centers in Russia. It underwent clinical trials under the supervision of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, one of Russia’s top medical research institutions.
The trial results revealed that the vaccine is highly effective in preventing tumor formation and the spread of cancer cells throughout the body. Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on television, “We are very close to completing the development of a vaccine capable of preventing cancer.”
Although countries like the United States and several others are also working on cancer vaccines, none have yet been made commercially available.
It is worth noting that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia also made headlines with its vaccine development. In August 2020, it launched the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine, named “Sputnik,” which was used in at least 150 countries to combat the pandemic.
